Following our recent Socially Distanced Open Day and AAA Tiger Tryouts, we asked our Members and their parents what they thought of the new policies and procedures which have been implemented in our classes.

From the Members who attended our events across our re-opening weekend, 100% of respondants said that they felt safe in our classes and would be happy to continue with our classes over the coming months!  Members also highly praised the cleanliness of our facility, the socially distanced activities we provided and the new equipment available within our facility!

Based on the feedback that we've received, we've also streamlined our arrival and collection process to allow more space at the entrance for Members, and will continue to monitor our activities to ensure we're providing the best experience for everyone!

AAAsports brought excitement back to our facility in Sunderland this weekend, welcoming Members back to activity for the first time in almost 5 months!  Trampolines sprung to life, the sprung floor bounced in to action and the sound system blasted beats for the first time since lockdown began!

On Saturday, over 100 Members of all ages and abilities joined in our Socially Distanced Open Day and had their first chance to see our brand new facility setup, including our reconfigured sprung floor, brand new FIG-standard Gymnova Beam and our brand new Gymnova Rio Asymmetric Bars!

On Sunday, new and existing Members took part in Tryouts to join the 2020/21 AAA Tigers Teams, with everyone aiming to earn a spot on the teams competing across the UK, with our spectators watching the Tryouts on our brand new viewing screen and entertainment station!

The atmosphere across the weekend was unique, with everyone adapting to new social distancing rules and additional cleaning procedures, designed to keep everyone safe during their activities.  Our Coaches were delighted to see our Members back and taking part in activities, and everyone was thrilled with the number of happy smiley faces that left the facility at the end of each day!

Our regular classes won't restart until September 2020, but there's still plenty of chances to get involved with our activities throughout August with our Pay-As-You-Go Summer Classes!  These classes are open to everyone, including non-Members!  To enrol, simply visit your new-look myAAA account!

Exactly 5 years since receiving the keys to AAAsports Sunderland in Southwick, we are excited to announce that our formal application for a second dedicated location in Sunderland has been submitted!  After over 2 years of working with Sunderland Council to find the perfect location for a second site in Sunderland, AAAsports have applied to convert units in Leechmere to a second dedicated Gymnastics, Trampoline and Cheerleading facility!  

Plans for this facility have been in development since January 2020, and thanks to the support of our Members through this incredibly difficult time, we're confident that we can bring our high quality classes to the communities of South Sunderland!  The launch of the Leechmere site will allow AAAsports to expand our programmes further, offering more dedicated classes at all levels, from beginners right through to national level athletes, complimenting the existing site in Southwick.

We are now awaiting a formal decision from Sunderland Council as to the change-of-use application, and if successful, we hope to be operational in early 2021!

Cheerleading is a fun, energetic and challenging activity, combining dance, stunts and tumbling in to fast paced routines set to music.  The AAA Tigers have Members of all ages, and no experience is necessary to take part in our Tryouts, just a passion to perform as part of this unique team!

Successful Members will get the chance to perform across the UK and even beyond with the AAA Tigers, hopefully in front of huge crowds once lockdown is lifted!

Class Relaunch Dates
Following feedback from our parents plus advice from the UK Government and our governing bodies, AAAsports will  delay resuming our regular weekly classes at all locations until September 2020.  This gives all of our Members who are still unsure about attending classes again time to assess the safety measures we have in place, and removes the need to commit to regular classes over the summer months, in addition for us ensuring the suitability of our partner locations for our classes.

PAYG Classes - Throughout August
We will be running Pay-As-You-Go classes at AAAsports Sunderland throughout August - Members can take part in as many or as few classes as they'd like by simply booking through their myAAA accounts!  All classes will be run under relevant guidelines, which may change as the year progresses!  Rest assured - all AAAsports classes have been fully risk assessed with safety being our main priority!

Class Amendments
Due to the COVID crisis, we have had to make significant changes to our classes to take in to account new regulations and requirements.  As a result, we are restructuring all of our classes to ensure that we can continue to provide the high service levels our Members have come to expect.  This does mean that class times will be altered for many Members once we restart in September 2020 - our team will be in touch with Members over the summer who are part of affected classes.

There will be a number of changes within classes to continue improving the classes we offer, allowing an increased focus on fun activities, additional apparatus pieces and new competition and reward opportunities!  Keep checking your email for more information on these exciting new developments!

Payments
Our automated charging system was disabled throughout lockdown to ensure our Members didn't pay for classes we weren't able to deliver.  As Members were still technically enrolled though, our system continued to add charges to Members accounts.  Our team will now work on manually correcting the accounts of all of our Members to bring them back up to date with our September relaunch date - please bear with us!

All fees paid for April 2020 classes will be transferred to September 2020 instead to ensure that our Members don't lose out, meaning most Members will next pay for classes on 15th September 2020.  This payment date will also include the 2020/21 Memberships, which have been substantially reduced for existing Members to compensate for the lockdown closures.

Office Hours
Our team are beginning to increase their office hours right now, however this will still not be the hours which were in place pre-lockdown.  We are asking that any Members send their questions via email and we will respond as soon as we can, but please be aware this may take a little longer than usual!

After months of lockdown, AAAsports classes are finally set to restart very soon, better than ever before!

With a whole host of exciting changes and so many questions from parents, we will be holding Virtual Parents Meetings on Monday 20th July, from 6pm for Participation Members and from 7pm for Squad Members.

During the meeting, we will explain the measures we have in place and try to answer as many questions as possible.  If you have a question that you would like answering, please send them to us and we will answer as many as we can!

Whilst the UK Government have announced indoor physical activity can re-open from 25th July, we want to make sure that our Members feel safe and comfortable to return to their activities whilst we provide the highest quality experience our Members have come to expect.

We are therefore asking Members to let us know their thoughts on re-opening opportunities by completing a simple survey here.  The survey will take only a few minutes and will help us to make sure that we can provide classes suitable for everyone again as quickly as possible!

Exciting announcements from the UK Government tonight as they announce that indoor sports activities can restart from 25th July!  AAAsports will now begin working with our governing bodies and delivery partners to plan to resume our classes in a way that can allow every one to enjoy their classes and stay safe at the same time.

There will undoubtedly be some big changes to how we run classes in the future - some which had previously been decided before lockdown began and others which will be essential for the welfare of everyone involved in our sport.  Once these have been confirmed and more information becomes available, we will make this available as soon as possible.

We ask that all Members continue to check our website, social media and newsletters for more information in the build-up to our return, and we hope to see everyone back in our classes again very soon!

AAAsports Members have demonstrated their overwhelming support and generosity by helping us smash our Crowdfunder campaign targets and securing matched funding, which will help us to make sure we can reopen safely!

We really appreciate all the donations our Members have made to ensuring they can continue with their activities as soon as possible, and all donations made towards our campaign can be converted in to credit in their myAAA accounts.  Information on how to convert your donation will be sent out by email once the campaign officially closes and the funding is processed.

We're now preparing to reopen better than ever, and we can't wait to see all of our Members back in our classes soon!

Over the last 15 weeks, AAAsports Coaches Matei, Millie and Rosie have delivered free classes every weeknight for our Members!  We've had hundreds of Members take part across all disciplines and locations, with a range of fun activities for everyone to keep in touch with their friends and keep themselves active!

AAAsports are excited to announce that from today, our team are starting to return to work and prepare for the restart of our classes across the region!  Whilst we await the official go-ahead from the UK Government, our team are now hard at work preparing exciting new activities for all of our Members!

On Wednesday, we invite our Squad Members to take part in an interactive group Conditioning Workout, live from their living rooms!  Our Coaches will take everyone through their paces with encouragement from everyone in the session!

On Thursday, it's your chance to win some great prizes with our interactive quiz!  Play at home with your whole family - nothing physical but still a whole lot of fun!

Then on Friday it's Award Assessment time!  Our Coaches will be testing Members ready for their next Award through our great online system - Members who achieve their latest awards can even have them delivered direct to their homes!

It is with great sadness and deep disappointment that AAAsports classes will be suspended from 8pm on Friday 20th March at all locations until further notice.  We have also taken the decision to postpone the AAAsports Championships & Presentation Ceremony, which were due to be held in June 2020.

We have always reinvested our profits back in to our classes, our Coaches and our facilities meaning we have always kept very little in reserve, so now more than ever we ask for your understanding.  As we try to protect the jobs of our Coaches and secure the future of our classes, we are not currently in a position to offer any refunds on class fees.  At this time, we are working with our payment providers to suspend future class payments and will look to arrange credits and additional opportunities for affected Members once we know with more certainty what the future holds.

Our aim is to reopen our classes as soon as we can.  We want to see our Members being active and socialising with their friends, and we will be working hard to allow this to happen as quickly as possible in line with government advice.  In the meantime, we invite everyone to continue to interact with us through our social media pages, where we will be hosting a range of fun activities for everyone.

We have this evening been informed that the Lakeside Centre will be closing with immediate effect, meaning all AAAsports Classes at this location will be cancelled until further notice.

We are meeting daily to determine the best course of action in this ever changing scenario, and any Members affected by cancellations will receive more information via email over the coming days.  We ask that Members ensure that they have opted in to receiving email notifications from us to enable emails to be received successfully.

All other AAAsports Classes are currently scheduled to run as normal, however we ask that Members continue to check our social media feeds and website before travelling to their classes to avoid any inconvenience.

Congratulations to Ava, Isabel and Ollie who all competed in the Zonal Schools Trampoline Competition in Newcastle this weekend!  This competition was the second round of the BSGA Trampoline Competition, with all three earning their space at a qualifying event in Billingham in December.

Qualifiers from across the North of England, North West, Yorkshire and Northern Ireland all took part in this event, with everyone battling to earn a space at a the prestigious National Schools Finals, being held in Eastleigh in March 2020.

All 3 Members performed full routines, with Isabel helping her school team place 2nd and securing her space in the National Finals, while Ollie placed 2nd in his age category and also earning his spot in the Finals!

Well done to everyone who competed and their Coaches, and good luck to Isabel and Ollie in the National Finals later in the year!

The first Award Assessment week will begin on Saturday 25th January, with all classes through to Friday 31st January giving AAAsports Members the opportunity to earn their next Award!

All AAAsports Members work towards the British Gymnastics Award Scheme within their classes, providing fantastic opportunities to show progression and development in their chosen activities.  Each Award gets progressively more difficult as Members move through the criteria, and are designed to complement the development of the more complex skills found across our activities!

Members who earn an Award will be given a confirmation slip, which can then be used to purchase the accompanying badge and certificate from their class for the next two weeks!  Members can then track their progress through the Skills Tracking facility in their myAAA account!

Due to the nature of the assessments taking place, our classes can look very different during Assessment Week!  We therefore recommend that parents read a little more about the structure of our activities on our dedicated Awards page, and check out how to monitor the progress of each Member in our Skills Tracking guide!

Join us for our action packed day of movie-themed fun during the February Half Term holidays!  Whether your child is obsessed with action heroes, a future princess or a pirate in training, this day is guaranteed to have something for them!

From 9am to 4pm, budding film stars will take part in a range of activities all themed around the iconic scenes from Hollywood's best movies!  Film stars will also get the chance to walk the red carpet, take part in a photo shoot and might even win big in an awards ceremony!  Plus no movie themed day would be complete without popcorn!  All film stars will receive free popcorn as part of the fun!

Year 1 pupils from Hill View Infants and Hudson Road Primary School visited AAAsports Sunderland today to take part in a fun, active gymnastics and trampoline session!

Delivered by our experienced AAAsports Coaches, pupils got the chance to try out fun skills on our trampolines, vault, beam and bars, learning new skills and developing their balance and co-ordination!

Teachers from the schools enjoyed watching their pupils taking part in activities they aren't able to offer in schools, and loved seeing the excitement on the faces of their pupils!  Congratulations to everyone who took part - we can't wait to see you again in the future!
