YOU WANT TO BECOME A COACH.
You may have no formal coaching qualification yet, but you are interested in sport, willing to learn, comfortable working with children and young people, and prepared to commit to regular practical development.
Our Coach Education Programme gives people aged 16+ a supported route into coaching. You learn practically alongside our team, build real experience and work towards becoming a qualified gymnastics coach.
You do not need to arrive already knowing how to coach. If we believe you have the right attitude and potential, our Tutor Coaches will work with you to develop the practical skills and knowledge you need.
You normally attend for approximately 1 to 2 voluntary hours each week, working in real AAAsports classes alongside experienced members of our team.
Your development is tracked as you learn, so you can see what has been achieved, what you are currently developing and what still needs to be signed off.
You may have no formal coaching qualification yet, but you are interested in sport, willing to learn, comfortable working with children and young people, and prepared to commit to regular practical development.
Coach Education is open from age 16+. It can suit somebody starting out, changing career, returning to work, or simply looking for a flexible way to develop into coaching.
This is not a classroom-only programme. Your development happens inside AAAsports, working alongside a Tutor Coach and gradually building the confidence and ability to coach our Members.
Learn how classes are structured, how coaches communicate, how activities are organised and how Members are supported.
Assist with class delivery, support individual participants and begin taking responsibility for appropriate parts of sessions.
Develop instruction, observation, feedback, class management, safety awareness and the practical skills needed to coach.
Your Tutor Coach records and signs off the required areas as you demonstrate them, creating a clear record of your development.
We are not simply sending you away on a course and expecting you to come back knowing how to coach. Your practical AAAsports development and your governing-body qualification work together.
You work regularly with a Tutor Coach, develop through real classes and build the competencies needed to eventually take responsibility for AAAsports sessions.
Our team mentors and prepares you for the Foundation Coach qualification. AAAsports funds the coaching qualification while you are responsible for purchasing your own British Gymnastics Membership.
The qualification is a major milestone, but it sits inside a wider development journey. Your Tutor Coach helps prepare you before the course and your AAAsports development continues afterwards.
Build the knowledge and practical understanding that will help you get the most from the qualification.
Work through the required online part of your British Gymnastics Foundation Coach qualification.
Complete the practical course element and demonstrate the required coaching knowledge and ability.
Bring the qualification back into your AAAsports development and continue working towards our Internal Assessment.
Your practical development is normally completed voluntarily each week alongside one of our Tutor Coaches.
AAAsports pays the cost of your British Gymnastics Foundation Coach qualification if you are accepted onto the programme.
Coach Education participants are responsible for purchasing and maintaining the British Gymnastics Membership required for their coaching pathway.
Completing your Foundation Coach qualification does not automatically make you an AAAsports Coach.
Your tracked development continues until the required areas have been completed and both you and your Tutor Coach believe you are ready to be put forward.
You then have to demonstrate that you can safely, confidently and consistently deliver an AAAsports class to our minimum internal coaching standard.Finish any outstanding requirements relevant to your role, including safeguarding where needed.
Passing the Internal Assessment is the point at which you have demonstrated the standard required to represent AAAsports as a coach.
You become eligible to begin taking paid AAAsports coaching hours, normally on a zero-hours basis.
Build experience, gain further qualifications and create more coaching opportunities over time.
AAAsports delivers several disciplines, but our core coaching pathway starts with gymnastics. Everybody develops that foundation first.
Once you are established as an AAAsports Coach, you can choose to continue developing and gain further qualifications in other areas.
We can teach coaching. We can develop knowledge. We can fund qualifications and give you experience.
What we cannot create for you is enthusiasm. We want people who genuinely want to be here, get involved, ask questions, listen to feedback and want to become better.
If you bring that, we can work with you on the rest.
You do not need a coaching qualification to apply. If you have the interest, enthusiasm and willingness to learn, the Coach Education Programme could be your route into the AAAsports team.
