Awards
AAAsports classes use a progressive Award Scheme for all of our recreational classes to help us to monitor progress of every AAAsports Member and keep them motivated within our classes. The Award Scheme is tailored for each activity and assesses AAAsports Members on the skills they have been learning in our classes.
How Often Do AAAsports Members Get Assessed For Their Awards?
Every 6-9 weeks, all of our classes become ‘Award Assessment’ classes! AAAsports Members attend their classes as normal and the AAAsports Coaches will deliver a slightly amended programme to allow AAAsports Members to be assessed on their next award. In Pre-School, Assessment classes are run at the end of every month.
How Do I Know Which Award Members Are Being Assessed On?
Easy! All AAAsports Members can monitor their progress in our classes at any time from the comfort of their own home through their very own myAAA account! Simply log in to your account and select 'Evaluations' to view Awards passed and future Awards yet to achieve! Read more about this unique-to-AAAsports feature here!
How Do Award Assessment Classes Run? What Changes?!
Award Assessment classes start with a warm-up as normal. Members may then be split in to new groups and given cards to work from. These cards display skills suitable for the level of each Member – some skills may be easy while some skills may require a bit of practice! The AAAsports Coaches will then assess each Member based on the skills that they need to pass their next Award!
What Are AAAsports Members Assessed On?
To achieve each Award, Members need to be able to perform a number of pre-determined skills, combinations and routines that test the strength, flexibility, stamina and coordination of each Member. Every Award is progressive and leads towards the next, more complex Award! Please be aware that in Gymnastics Assessment classes, Members generally only use the floor area and not apparatus pieces.
How Many Awards Can AAAsports Members Achieve?
This all depends on the activity you’re taking part in:
Will I Get An Award Every Time?
Not necessarily! Members can only achieve an Award if they are able to perform the required skills to a good standard. As the Awards get more complex, learning each skill can take a little while and then perfecting it can take even longer. Therefore it’s not unusual to achieve several of the ‘easier’ Awards quite quickly but then for the more complex Awards to take a little longer to achieve.
How Do I Know If I’ve Achieved An Award? Where Can I Collect My Award?
At the end of each Assessment Class, the AAAsports Coaches will hand out slips to confirm which Members have achieved an Award. Awards can then be purchased at the start of your class for the next 2 weeks – after 2 weeks you may have to wait a little longer to collect your Award! Each Award comprises a certificate and fabric badge – many AAAsports Members choose to display these on their very own AAAsports Hoodie!
Do All AAAsports Activities Do Awards?
No, due to their structure our Freestyle and Open classes do not run any Award Scheme. Instead, Members are encouraged to work towards personal goals and targets that Members set themselves rather than set by us. Our Squad classes also do not deliver any Award Schemes, with Members in these classes focused towards achievements in competitions instead.
What Else Can I Do?
If you’re enjoying passing our Award Scheme, you’ll love taking part in the AAAsports Championships! This yearly event brings AAAsports Members from all of our locations and all of our activities together for a fun, friendly event to demonstrate what they have learned in our classes. This is then topped off with our amazing Presentation Ceremony, where all Members receive a medal and certificate of participation! It’s the highlight of the year for most of our Members!

How Many Awards Can AAAsports Members Achieve?
This all depends on the activity you’re taking part in:
- Gymnastics – There are 8 basic Awards in Gymnastics, with Award 8 being the easiest and Award 1 being the most difficult. After gaining Award 1, Members then begin to work on Bronze, Silver and Gold status – each level has 7 awards to achieve!
- Trampoline – There are 10 basic Awards in Trampoline, with Award 1 being the easiest and Award 10 being the most difficult. Once Members have gained Award 10, Members are recommended to move to an Advanced Recreation class where they can continue to work on the more advanced Awards 11 to 15!
- Cheerleading – There are 6 basic Awards in Cheerleading, with Award 1 being the easiest and Award 6 being the most difficult. After gaining Award 6, Members then begin to work on Bronze, Silver and Gold status – each of these requires a group performance!
- Pre-School – There are 3 Awards in Pre-School Gymnastics and 5 Awards in Pre-School Trampoline. These Awards then link in to the respective Awards above when Members join our Recreation classes.
