Exactly 5 years since receiving the keys to AAAsports Sunderland in Southwick, we are excited to announce that our formal application for a second dedicated location in Sunderland has been submitted! After over 2 years of working with Sunderland Council to find the perfect location for a second site in Sunderland, AAAsports have applied to convert units in Leechmere to a second dedicated Gymnastics, Trampoline and Cheerleading facility! Plans for this facility have been in development since January 2020, and thanks to the support of our Members through this incredibly difficult time, we're confident that we can bring our high quality classes to the communities of South Sunderland! The launch of the Leechmere site will allow AAAsports to expand our programmes further, offering more dedicated classes at all levels, from beginners right through to national level athletes, complimenting the existing site in Southwick. We are now awaiting a formal decision from Sunderland Council as to the change-of-use application, and if successful, we hope to be operational in early 2021! As part of our Community Outreach Programme, AAAsports delivers FREE Taster Days to local schools, engaging every pupil in fun gymnastics and cheer classes throughout the day! There's no cost to schools for this opportunity, which are taught by fully qualified, experienced and insured AAAsports Coaches! Every class in the school will be given the opportunity to try out fun activities with us, promoting healthy living and an active lifestyle! If your school would like us to visit for free, ask them to contact us on 03335 776787 or email [email protected]! Gymnastics, Trampoline and Cheerleading are all sports filled with danger, yet here at AAAsports we have an amazing safety record. This is thanks to the training and experience our Coaches receive when working to achieve their coaching qualifications, helping them to provide safe, effective progressions for all of our Members. Each Coach is trained on skills that they can deliver and supervise in our classes, starting from simpler skills at Level 1 and progressing all the way up to incredibly complex Olympic-standard skills at Level 4 and 5. AAAsports are proud to have Coaches at all coaching levels, including 2 x Level 5 High Performance qualifications - the highest qualifications in the UK! Our Coaches are committed to ensuring that skills taught in our classes are within their qualification status to help protect all of our Members during the time in our classes - sadly we know not all providers operate in the same way, which can cause skills to be delivered incorrectly, and even put participants at risk. The experience of our qualifications also helps our Coaches to identify when our Members are ready to move on to more complex skills, and when a little more practice is needed! And with such a wide variety of qualifications available at AAAsports, our team can often be found working together to make sure they get the very best results for every Member! Representatives from Tyne & Wear Sport made a surprise visit to our classes this week to recognise the passion and dedication shown by our Participation Manager Emily towards all of our Members. Emily has inspired a generation of Members to work hard to achieve their goals, and has created a Participation Programme to ensure that every Member can thrive in our classes. But that's not the only recognition Emily has received this year! Emily's knowledge and support for Disability Gymnastics saw her become an Inclusion Specialist for British Gymnastics - one of only a handful in the UK! As part of this role, Emily helps to shape the future of Disability Gymnastics across the country, providing support to Coaches and Clubs to enable them to make their classes suitable for everyone. Emily's passion has always been to provide high-quality classes that everyone can enjoy, and holding qualifications in Trampoline, DMT, Gymnastics, Cheerleading, Freestyle and Pre-School Gymnastics, Emily has made sure to plan programmes that can help everyone to achieve their dreams! Well done Emily! Congratulations to our newest set of Level 2 Trampoline Coaches! Bradley, Corey, Jamie and Kymberli all passed their coaching awards recently, following an intensive course and extended period of mentoring from our existing Coaches! Well done! This comes only a few months after 7 of our Coaches gained additional Pre-School coaching qualifications, demonstrating our continued drive to developing our Coaches. We have further courses due to start in the next few weeks, as we being our Coach Education Programme again to train Coaches of the future! Keep checking our website for more information on how to apply for our January 2020 course! Congratulations to our Coach Education Programme members who passed their L1 Gymnastics Coach qualification this weekend! After several months of mentoring with our existing AAAsports Coaches, Jess, Karen, Lois, Nicola, Rachael and Sophie all demonstrated their coaching abilities in front of an independent British Gymnastics assessor.
All the candidates will now undergo one final assessment with existing AAAsports Coaches before joining our regular coaching team. Well done once again to all the candidates! Following the success of the third AAAsports Coach Education Programme in January 2017, AAAsports are excited to announce our first ever Summer Coach Education Programme, set to begin in July 2017! AAAsports are now looking for enthusiastic and driven candidates to join our programme, with successful candidates receiving fully funded qualifications and employment with AAAsports following the course! The closing date for applications is Wednesday 31st May 2017. For more information, visit our Coach Education Programme page! |
