A reminder that due to the Easter Bank Holidays, all classes are cancelled on:
* Friday 30th March 2018 * Sunday 1st April 2018 * Monday 2nd April 2018 Classes will run as normal on Saturday 31st March 2018! Our offices are now closed until 10am on Tuesday 3rd April, however Members can still access myAAA to manage their classes throughout this time! AAAsports were proud to host the 2018 Sunderland Key Steps events at AAAsports Sunderland this week, with pupils from schools across the city taking part in this fun, exciting competition. After practicing their in school during their PE lessons, pupils visited AAAsports Sunderland to perform their floor routines and in front of a set of judges, hoping to earn enough points for their school to progress to the Tyne & Wear Final held in July 2018. In addition to hosting and judging the event, AAAsports Coaches also held a Festival activity, with pupils taking part in a mini-vault competition, trampoline experience and getting to try out our bars and beam! The events were a huge success, with the following teams qualifying to the next round: * KS1 - Grindon Hall A * KS2 - Hylton Castle E * KS3 - Dame Dorothy B This event makes up a larger qualification event, with AAAsports working with Gateshead, Newcastle and North Tyneside to run later in the year before hosting the Tyne & Wear Final back at AAAsports Sunderland in July 2018! Congratulations to everyone who took part!
On Wednesday 11th April, the AAAsports Leadership Academy Members will be hosting an Easter Open Day at AAAsports Sunderland! The event will be completely planned, hosted and organised by our Leadership Academy Members - come along and support them whilst having fun as well!
The event will be in two parts, with the first session running from 12:30pm to 1:45pm and the second session running from 1:45pm to 3:00pm. Everyone is welcome for just £1 per session - you don't need to be a AAAsports Member to take part and parents are encouraged to join in the fun too! Everyone taking part will have the opportunity to take part in 5 different activities delivered by the Leadership Academy and the AAAsports Coaches - everyone who takes part in all 5 activities will head back to the Reception to receive a prize! The AAAsports Leadership Academy Members will also have an arts and crafts corner to keep even the youngest visitor busy, while tea, coffee and cakes will be available too! We look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday 11th April! AAAsports are celebrating this weekend with successes in competitions on both sides of the Irish Sea! On Saturday, Dan and Ollie competed in the National Schools Trampoline event in Newtownards, Northern Ireland. This was the culmination of a 3-stage qualification event, with both boys earning their space at this prestigious event by qualifying through tough competitions in Billingham in December and Huddersfield in February. Despite the pressure of the high-profile event, both boys kept their cool and came away with 3rd in place in their respective events! On Sunday, Gymnastics Performance Squad Members Annabelle, Callie, Charlotte, Hannah and Mya travelled to Spennymoor to compete in the North Grades event - the first time AAAsports has taken part in the event. All 5 girls competed routines on bar, beam, floor and vault, competing against other clubs from across the region. Despite this challenge, all 5 girls managed to gain a Commendation due to their excellent scores, with Charlotte producing a fantastic 1st place result in her category! Congratulations to everyone who competed this weekend and to their Coaches! On Sunday 25th February, AAAsports Members attended 2 different competitions - the Trampoline and DMT NDP Semi Final in Penrith and the Gymnastics Sport For All competition in Catterick! In the Trampoline & DMT event there were 10 Squad Members competing for their chance to qualify to the next round in Birmingham later in the year. All the Squad Members performed great routines and passes, with Jess and Skye both scoring high enough in their DMT events to qualify to the next round at the Birmingham Arena! We also had some excellent team success, with Millie, Rosie, Samantha and Skye taking home a team DMT medal and Evie, Isabelle, Isobel and Sadie taking home a team Trampoline medal too! In the Sport For All event, 10 Squad Members achieved a podium finish in some of the best results AAAsports have ever achieved! The Sport For All event is designed for those taking part in competitions for the very first time, making this result even more special for those competing! Some of the highlights included Alex taking 3rd in the U12 Girls category, Morgan placing 2nd in the U12 Boys category, Kacey placing first in the U14 Girls category and Abby winning the U12 Girls category with the highest score of the day! Throughout the day it was great to see Members supporting each other both from our numerous locations and across our multiple disciplines - well done to everyone who took part and to their Coaches who helped achieve these fantastic results! Due to the weather conditions, all classes at the Louisa Centre are cancelled tonight, Friday 2nd March.
We are happy to announce that classes at AAAsports Sunderland will go ahead as normal! For those Members who can attend safely, we do ask that parents remain close by to ensure that they can be collected on time! We will provide further updates for our weekend classes later in the day. Due to the poor weather conditions, all AAAsports classes are cancelled today at both AAAsports Sunderland and the Louisa Centre. New Members who were scheduled to have their Trials today will be moved to next week instead.
We appreciate your understanding and hope to have our classes back up and running as soon as possible! |
