Members of the Trampoline & DMT Development and Performance Squads were in Derby this weekend, competing in the Trampoline & DMT League Finals event! Dan, Hannah and Ollie had travelled to qualification events in Burgess Hill and Nottingham earlier in the year to achieve points to compete to become League Champion at the Velodrome in Derby. Congratulations to Members of our Intermediate and Development Trampoline and DMT Squads, who competed in the first NDP Event of the 2019/20 season in Billingham this weekend! This event is hugely important as a first step for our rising stars in their progress towards national competitions in the future! The event was the first ever competition for many of our Members, with some excellent results achieved across the day! In the DMT event, Ava placed 2nd in the NDP2 DMT event, while in the Trampoline event, Hannah placed 3rd in NDP5, Niamh placed 2nd in CDP and Emily placed 1st in NDP4! Well done to all of our Members and their Coaches - full results will be published online when they are released! AAAsports are delighted to be working in partnership with British Gymnastics on an exciting pilot scheme for the registration of our Members with British Gymnastics. The new pilot scheme is now live, and we would like to thank all of our Members for their patience over the the last few months whilst this scheme was finalised! AAAsports Members will now be able to register with British Gymnastics directly through their myAAA account. To do this, all current AAAsports Members must log in to their myAAA account and accept the Student Policy which has been added to your account by Friday 29th November 2019 - this will enable us to complete your registration with British Gymnastics. Thank you again for your support during this pilot scheme, and we welcome any feedback that you may have on the scheme! This week, AAAsports worked with Tyne & Wear Sport to deliver Trampoline qualification events in Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Sunderland as part of the Tyne & Wear Schools Trampoline competition. Over 800 pupils aged between 11-16 years old took part across the 5 events, with the top placed pupils in each category moving forward to represent their region at the Tyne & Wear Finals, to be held at AAAsports Sunderland later in the year. AAAsports Members were amongst the successful qualifiers at the event, with Callie, Dan and Grace qualifying to represent Sunderland, while Hannah and Izzy qualified to the Gateshead team! Congratulations to everyone who took part - full results from all areas can be found here. Representatives from Tyne & Wear Sport made a surprise visit to our classes this week to recognise the passion and dedication shown by our Participation Manager Emily towards all of our Members. Emily has inspired a generation of Members to work hard to achieve their goals, and has created a Participation Programme to ensure that every Member can thrive in our classes. But that's not the only recognition Emily has received this year! Emily's knowledge and support for Disability Gymnastics saw her become an Inclusion Specialist for British Gymnastics - one of only a handful in the UK! As part of this role, Emily helps to shape the future of Disability Gymnastics across the country, providing support to Coaches and Clubs to enable them to make their classes suitable for everyone. Emily's passion has always been to provide high-quality classes that everyone can enjoy, and holding qualifications in Trampoline, DMT, Gymnastics, Cheerleading, Freestyle and Pre-School Gymnastics, Emily has made sure to plan programmes that can help everyone to achieve their dreams! Well done Emily! Congratulations go out to Ollie following his remarkable British Trampoline Championships results - Ollie has cemented his position as 3rd in the UK in his age category! Following a tough series of qualification events in Telford and Sheffield, Ollie travelled to Arena Birmingham to compete in the British Championships with the best Trampoline, DMT and Tumbling competitors in the UK, managing a fantastic 3rd place! But that's not all! Ollie scored a whopping 29.9 out of 30.0 for his 'Horizontal Displacement' score (how well he says on the cross on the Trampoline) - that was the highest in the entire competition, placing higher than even the Senior competitors! A huge achievement for his first ever British Championships! Well done to Ollie and all of his Coaches who shared in his success! Congratulations to Head Coach, Andi Revell who has been appointed as 1 of 10 Representatives of the British Gymnastics Club Stakeholder Advisory Group! Let us tell you more about it... British Gymnastics were on a hunt to find experienced Members within the sport to assist them in making our amazing sport even better! Representatives on the panel are there to provide new, fresh ideas to British Gymnastics as well as highlighting any concerns Clubs and Members may be facing. The selection process was very intense, but we are delighted to announce that Andi was successful and we are even more excited for the future of the Board!! To check out more about Andi's new role, click here! Now let us tell you more about Andi... Not only is Andi a Qualified High Performance Trampoline, High Performance DMT Coach and National Level Judge, he is also a Tutor for British Gymnastics. This means he is able to deliver Level 1 and 2 Trampoline, Freestyle and Pre-School Coaching Courses as well as assessing candidates and giving them that all important tick! Andi travels around the country to do this, in addition to working for UKAD, our Anti Doping Organisation. He assists UKAD in delivering workshops to Olympic Athletes and Premier League Footballers to make sure we have a Clean, Safe Sport! You can normally find Andi by the Trampoline or DMT somewhere coaching the Performance Trampoline and DMT Squads. He regularly travels to different competitions around the UK with the Squad, judging where needed and supporting our Members always! As the Head Coach at AAAsports, Andi's passion for every Member to enjoy our sport consistently shines through and we know that he will make a massive impact to our sport! Well done Andi!! We have been informed by the Lakeside Centre that they have scheduled refurbishment works to take place in their sports hall from 30th September 2019 until 1st January 2020. This will mean that the sports hall will be out of action and we will not be able to operate classes at this location during this time.
We have worked with the team at the Lakeside Centre and have been able to secure an alternative booking at Hadrian Leisure Centre, St Peter's Road, Wallsend, NE28 7LQ. We will therefore be transferring all Lakeside Centre classes to this location from 30th September 2019 to 1st January 2020. We are currently working with both centres to determine which equipment can be transferred to Hadrian LC, although we are confident we will still be able to offer all 4 gymnastics pieces plus Trampolines each week, albeit it potentially on a smaller scale. We appreciate that this is an inconvenience to our Members, but unfortunately it is a situation over which we have no control. We are therefore offering the following options to Members:
We thank you for your understanding and support in this matter, and hope that you will continue with our classes at Hadrian LC! Congratulations to our newest set of Level 2 Trampoline Coaches! Bradley, Corey, Jamie and Kymberli all passed their coaching awards recently, following an intensive course and extended period of mentoring from our existing Coaches! Well done! This comes only a few months after 7 of our Coaches gained additional Pre-School coaching qualifications, demonstrating our continued drive to developing our Coaches. We have further courses due to start in the next few weeks, as we being our Coach Education Programme again to train Coaches of the future! Keep checking our website for more information on how to apply for our January 2020 course! Congratulations to Members of our Development & Performance Trampoline & DMT Squads who travelled to Nottingham last weekend to compete in the final League qualifier of 2019! All Members were trying to gain qualification points to gain entry to the League Finals event being held in Derby in November 2019! There were some fantastic results all around - in the Trampoline Event, Hannah placed 15th to earn 10 points in her first League 2 event, Ava placed 16th to earn 9 points, Dan placed 4th and earned 60 points in League 1 whilst Ollie finished 1st and scored a huge 100 points! In DMT, Hannah placed 15th again to earn 10 points, Ollie placed 4th and earned 75 points while Dan placed 2nd and earned another huge 100 points! There's now an anxious wait for qualification lists for League Finals to be announced - good luck everyone! The results of the 2018/19 End of Year Questionnaire are now in! We're really impressed with yet another great set of results! Our Members really enjoy working with our Coaches and are finding our unique Skills Tracking facility really useful, however many Members said they hadn't used this feature yet! All Participation Members can track their progress through their very own myAAA account - check it out now! We did have a couple of queries regarding numbers of Members in each class - we will be reducing this to just 8 Members in Trampoline classes coming in line with our Gymnastics classes! This is way below the national standard! Our Members loved our Championships and Presentation Ceremony again, especially given the amended structure used this year! Many Members are already looking forward to next year's event - don't forget the AAAsports Championships will be held on 27th & 28th June 2020! There were some issues raised with our pricing structure and cancellation policy. Our policy is in place to allow Members to pay a set amount each month based on the number of classes operating each year rather than varying pricing each month based on the number of classes run. This means we can charge a standard price each month, usually of £24, rather than varying pricing between £16 and £40 each month. However, we will be investigating this option further in the future! A big thank you to everyone who completed the Questionnaire! We have prizes for Ian Richardson, Helen Burrell and Connor Ewujowoh who were selected at random from our completed responses - please get in touch to claim your prize! Finally, please don't stop with the feedback! We appreciate all feedback from all sources - if you have any comments, please send them to membership@AAAsports.co.uk or call us on 03335 776787! A reminder to all Members at AAAsports Sunderland - the first part of our refurbishment will be happening from Saturday 27th July to Friday 2nd August inclusive. During this time, all classes at AAAsports Sunderland will be closed and our offices will be open intermittently during this time.
Classes at AAAsports Sunderland will resume from Saturday 3rd August. All classes at all other locations will continue to run as normal, and access to the myAAA system will be available online throughout this time. AAAsports are excited to announce an upgrade of our facility at AAAsports Sunderland to include a sprung floor! We know that this will provide plenty of new thrilling opportunities for our Members across all of our disciplines! New Sprung Floor & New Gym Layout The new sprung floor is a full-size competition floor, meaning we need to create more space in our facility! With this in mind, we will be undertaking our biggest renovation project since opening AAAsports Sunderland 3½ years ago – by removing the Mezzanine floor! This will provide us with a brand new layout, including more usable space and facilities for our Members, helping our Members to improve their performances! New Spectator Seating Area In order to make the changes necessary to the gym itself, we will be removing the Mezzanine from our facility and creating a new, though smaller, spectator seating area. This dedicated area will improve our spectator experience, enabling a full view of our classes whilst providing access to working areas and electrical outlets for phones and other electrical equipment. In addition, this new area will feature an improved heating system for spectators for the winter months! We will also be revamping our refreshment options and implementing a new staffing structure to provide a better service to spectators. Class Disruption Whilst we will do everything within our power to minimise the disruption caused to our Members, we do appreciate your understanding for any inconvenience caused over the next few months as we carry out these renovations. In order to carry out these exciting renovations, it is necessary to cancel all classes at AAAsports Sunderland on the following dates:
