Flexibility is key...

30/1/2018

Comments

Flexibility is required by all gymnasts in order to improve their form and grace when it comes to executing moves.

Flexibility is an incredibly important component to a AAAsports Member, without it they would not develop the form or shapes necessary to produce some of the more advanced movements.

For example you require very good leg, back and shoulder flexibility to perform a good Japana.

Flexibility is typically improved through Dynamic and Static Stretching, some AAAsports Members will naturally be more flexible than others but being very flexible takes constant practice.

There are also other types of stretching such as Ballistic, PNF and Isometric Stretching but these are for more advanced training, and you will typically be introduced to these when AAAsports Members become a part of Squad.

The Dynamic Stretch is typically performed at the start of a AAAsports Session and involves a lot of active movement, to get the blood flowing as well as improve upon your flexibility.

Typically an 'Arm Circle' stretch involves constant movement, in one direction or another.

The Static Stretch is typically performed at the end of a AAAsports Session to maintain your flexibility and prevent blood pooling, typically these movements require much less 'active' movement and require 'stationary' holds.

Typically a 'Bridge' can be counted as a Static Stretch as it involves simply holding a position for a period of time.
