Running from 7:45pm to 9:15pm, new Members can try out all of our activities and re-discover the activities everyone enjoyed so much while at school! Our classes will restart from Saturday 5th January 2019 and our offices will reopen on Monday 7th January 2019. This is the first round of 3 Competitions that our Members were taking part in to hopefully be crowned National Schools Champions of the Year! Ava (2nd), Dan (2nd), Ollie (3rd), Joe (1st), Thomas (2nd), Samuel (3rd) and Hannah (2nd - Teams) have all qualified through to the next round which will be held in Ireland!! Well done to all our Members who took part and thank you to our Young Leaders, Rosie and Millie who Judged for us all day!!
Good news! The heating system is currently working again at the Louisa Centre and the centre is slowly starting to heat up again, therefore classes will run at the Louisa Centre as planned today! We look forward to seeing all of our Members at their classes again tonight!
Due to a heating breakdown at the Louisa Centre, all classes at the Louisa Centre are cancelled tonight, Wednesday 5th December 2018. Due to the short notice of this cancellation, Members are being offered the opportunity to transfer to classes at the Sandhill Centre tonight. We are working with the Louisa Centre to assess whether classes can run on Thursday and Friday this week - we ask Members continue to check our website for the latest updates. After several months of hard work, the new AAA Tigers teams had their first competition performance this weekend as part of the UKCA Winter Championships, held in Manchester. Many of the Members were taking part in their first ever competition, while many Members were looking to compete in even higher, more difficult competition levels, including our very first Level 5 Stunt Group! After the success of the 2017/18 teams, the challenge was on the 2018/19 teams to keep up the great results - and they managed it with 7 of the 9 teams competing gaining podium finishes at the event, including 4 x 1st place finishes! Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Tyne & Wear Schools Trampoline competition earlier in the month. After qualification events across Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Sunderland, the top competitors from each region arrived at AAAsports Sunderland to battle to become the Tyne & Wear Champion! Each competitor was also competing on behalf of their region, with points being earned for each region based on the competition results. For the 11th year running, Gateshead were crowned the Partnership Champion! Well done to everyone who took part - full results can be found below!

The British Gymnastics National Awards will take place on Saturday 26th January 2019 in Birmingham, and AAAsports are proud to announce they have been shortlisted in the National Club of the Year category! This category recognises British Gymnastics clubs which provide quality experiences for their Members - with initiatives including the AAAsports Academy, the AAAsports Coach Education Programme and the new Skills Tracking facility combined with our dedication to Disability Inclusion, Outreach Events and the AAAsports Championships, AAAsports are proud that these experiences have been recognised by our national governing body. This follows successes in previous years, with AAAsports having already won the National Education Award and National Inclusion Awards! In addition to this shortlisting, AAAsports Coach and national level competitor Bradley Welsh has been shortlisted in the National Young Volunteer of the Year category! This award recognises the high level of commitment and enthusiasm that Bradley demonstrates to activities across our sport, and the opportunities he has helped to provide to our Members! Bradley will be hoping to follow the trend set by AAAsports Coach Jacob Reed, who previously won the National Young Volunteer of the Year Award, and also AAAsports Coach Susan Robertson who was named the National Volunteer of the Year at last years ceremony! The week before Christmas is going to be a whole host of fun at AAAsports, with our classes turning in to Fancy Dress Parties for the week, and then rounding the week off with our fantastic FREE Christmas Disco on Friday 21st December 2018! A trip to Sheffield for the Trampoline & DMT League Finals proved hugely successful for Members of the Trampoline & DMT Squads this weekend! After travelling to qualifying events in Southampton, Burgess Hill and South Shields this year to gain qualification points to the event, Dan, Ollie, Matthew and Millie travelled to Sheffield to compete to be crowned League Champion 2018! Competing across Individual Trampoline, Synchro Trampoline and DMT, Members performed exceptionally across the weekend, with some great results for our Members! In the DMT event, all 4 Members competed great passes, with Ollie managing to secure 3rd place in the 9-12 League 3 Boys Event! Across in Trampoline, Dan performed his most complex routine to date and secured 2nd in the 9-12 League 1 Boys Event. Meanwhile, Ollie achieved an excellent result by claiming 1st place in the 9-10 League 3 Boys Event to become League Champion 2018! Congratulations to all of our Members who competed and their Coaches - a fantastic set of results to finish the 2018 competition season! After over a year of design, research and testing, our constant drive to be able to offer the best possible Classes has led to an exciting change within AAAsports! From Friday 2nd November 2018 our online Skills Tracking system will go live, meaning Members can check their progress within their AAAsports classes anywhere, anytime, through their myAAA account! The online system will allow Members to see what Awards they have achieved, what skills they have mastered in their AAAsports Classes and what they will be working on in the future! This is an exciting development for everyone at AAAsports and we can't wait to see our Members use this fantastic new service! Members will also be able to monitor how close they are to mastering all of the skills in each of our class levels and see what skills need to be completed before progressing to our next class level! Being able to track and monitor progression was the biggest request we received in our End of Year Questionnaire, and we're confident that this will allow our Members to do just that! All Participation classes in Gymnastics, Trampoline, Cheerleading and Pre-School are currently covered, with information being updated within 48 hours of each AAAsports class. AAAsports are one of the first in the UK to be able to offer this level of service to our Members, along with 24/7 access to managing their own classes online, all at no extra cost to AAAsports Members. AAAsports hosted the first Regional Trampoline & DMT NDP competition of the 2018/19 season this weekend, with Members from across our Intermediate Squads taking part in the event. Each Member was not only competing against other competitors in their category, but also aiming to gain the highest score possible to enable them to move to the next round of competition. There were some fantastic results from across the event, especially for many of our Members who were competing at this level for the very first time! Three Members won their event and gained the scores needed to move forward to the next round: * Emily - 1st - TRA Club Age 7-8 Female * Mya - 1st - TRA NDP 3 Age 11-12 Female * Ruby - 1st - TRA NDP 2 Age 9-10 Female Meanwhile in the DMT event, our Members were again working towards qualification scores in addition to their overall position, with some great podium placings as well: * Ava - 2nd - DMT NDP 1 Age 9-10 Female * Isabel - 1st - DMT NDP 1 Age 13+ Female * Mya - 1st - DMT NDP 2 Age 11-12 Female This event also proved the incredible support shown to us by our our Coaches, our Academy Members, our Squad Members and their families, many of whom spent the entire day at AAAsports Sunderland helping to make sure the event was a success. Many of our Members provided help in our Marketplace, supported other Members and even judged throughout the day, all before helping to return the facility to its normal setup ready for classes the next day. In conjunction with Tyne & Wear Sport, AAAsports hosted the Tyne & Wear Schools Trampoline Qualifying events across the region this week, with almost 700 secondary school pupils taking part in events in Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, South Tyneside and Sunderland. Entry numbers have continued to rise, as each pupil compete to represent their region in the Tyne & Wear Schools Trampoline Final, to be held at AAAsports Sunderland on Wednesday 14th November 2018. Each pupil performs one compulsory routine and one voluntary routine, with pupils competing both individually and in teams in 4 different competition levels. At the Tyne & Wear Final, all Beginner and Novice pupils will compete from 9:30am to 12:15pm, whilst all Development and Elite pupils will compete from 12:45pm to 3:00pm. As part of our ongoing redevelopment of AAAsports Sunderland, it has become necessary to close our toilet and changing area from 1pm on Saturday 13th October until 5pm on Monday 15th October 2018.
In order to minimise disruption to our Members, our classes will continue to run as normal during these times however there will be no toilet or changing facilities available. We advise that all Members arrive fully changed and ready to take part in their activities and that they use toilet facilities elsewhere before arriving for their class. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to our Members, and we appreciate your understanding while we enhance these areas for your future use! Congratulations to Members of the Development and Performance Trampoline and DMT Squads who competed in South Shields over the weekend in the final Trampoline League qualification event of the year. The pressure was on as Members worked to gain valuable League Points, enough of which secures a space in the Trampoline League Finals event in Sheffield later in the year. The team were celebrating with some fantastic results across Trampoline, DMT and Synchro, with points gained by several Members who now face an anxious wait to see if they have accumulated enough points for that Finals qualification place! The weekend was also extra special for Hannah, who competed in her very first Trampoline League event, and our many fantastic volunteers who gave up their time to help us to deliver this competition. Members of the AAAsports Trampoline & DMT Squads travelled all the way to Burgess Hill this weekend for the latest Trampoline League qualifying event. Competing across Individual Trampoline, Synchro Trampoline and DMT, our Members were aiming to gain points towards qualification towards the League Finals event, to be held in Sheffield in November 2018, in addition to bringing home some medals too! Our Members achieved some fantastic results over the weekend, including Samantha and Millie who competed at National Level for the first time and Susan who made a welcome return to Trampoline competition after a year out through injury. In the DMT event, Dan and Ollie scored 100 and 75 points respectively, with Ollie then taking home the Gold medal in the final with Dan taking home the silver! In their first National DMT competition, Millie and Samantha also gained 24 and 12 points respectively! In the Individual Trampoline event, Susan returned to competition with two full routines and 3 points towards League Finals, while Dan came away with 100 points and a Gold medal too! Finally in the Synchro Trampoline event, Dan and Ollie came away with 50 points! Well done to everyone who took part, and everyone who travelled to the event to support our team! The next event is a bit more local - South Shields in just 4 weeks time! After an amazing visit over summer, we're excited to announce that we're heading back to Derwent Hill from 16th to 18th August 2019! Join us as we climb, kayak, canoe, abseil, gorge walk and so much more in the heart of the Lake District with all your AAAsports friends!
